Frequently Asked Questions

What about the web pages for House to House?

Our websites provide a presence on the Internet for congregations that do not have a web page but would like the public to be able to find them.  You can list contact information, and share service times.  We are happy to be able to provide this service free for those congregations that regularly send out the House to House publication.
An example of our standard page is here:  https://demo1.churchofchrist.info/
We can also add permanent pictures.  If you have a picture of your entire congregation, church building, preacher, etc. just email it to me and I’ll be glad to add it to your web page.

Will you do this or that?

For the current day-to-day things like pictures, announcements, etc., you might be better served by setting up a Facebook group page.  That page will accept videos and pictures.  You may also want to consider a YouTube page.
All of these sites for Google email, Facebook, and YouTube are either free or have a free option available.  There is no reason to not have these and every reason to use these avenues to communicate with your congregation.
For the option that will enable you to share videos, handouts, and bulletins, we would use your shared Google Drive folder on the Internet.  A Google Drive is included for free when you set up a Google email address or "Gmail."  The contents of this shared drive would then be reflected on your web page.  Please see the article below for details about this.
Some congregations prefer a website that is more in-depth than our standard web page. Sadly, this is beyond the scope of what we can do.  But, we can recommend some individuals that provide this service for a fee.
Types of web pages that are beyond the scope of what we are able to do would include:
  • Frequently updated pages
  • Multiple pages
  • Content-rich pages
  • Having individual control over your page
  • Blogs
Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or if I can help you with this matter.

What's this about a Shared Folder on the Internet?

To update your web page easily with articles, document files, sound files, or video files, we can provide a link to a space that you set up in a shared folder.  You would then drop whatever files you want in that folder.  The files would then be reflected onto your web page.  This is easy to maintain by simply adding more content to the online Google folder.  It would look like the section near the bottom of this web page:  http://franklincounty.churchofchrist.info/
If you have a free Gmail account, the Google drive space comes with 15 Gigabytes of storage. This would be easy to maintain by simply adding more content to the online folder.
If you set up a folder for this you should send me a link to that folder that anyone can read.  The public will need to be able to view or read what is there, but they will not need to edit anything.
If you would like long-term storage of MANY videos, you may need to switch to a different solution for storage.  Here at Oak Hill Church of Christ, in Rome, GA.  we use Vimeo.com. https://vimeo.com/oakhill.  This is a paid solution for this service.  There are many such service providers on the Internet.
